New Talents and Toys

We are already 10 1/2 months old! We are learning all sorts of new things through exploring and playing with Daddy and Mommy and each other. We love to bang objects on the table, floor and most recently together! I (Jonathan) love the sounds that things make when they crash together. I also really like music and for people to sing to me. My latest feat is to learn to throw and roll a ball back and forth with a big person. Grandpa was trying to teach me how to dribble. I'm not very good at that yet, but I'm working on it.

I (Josiah) am also doing lots of fun things. I like to explore and figure out how things work. I'm really fascinated with the doggie door. Mommy and Daddy don't seem to want me to figure out how it works (and why it's there). I'm still going to try, though! Daddy and Mommy got us these really fun toys this weekend. They are cars and a truck that we can push all over the floor. I love to push the truck around - I figured that out the first day we played with them!
We really like to play peek-a-boo. We even play with each other. Mommy found us playing peek-a-boo around the door to the den today. Josiah would wait for me to peek from one side and then we'd both giggle at each other! It's so fun having a permanent playmate!

Here's a video that Mommy took of us playing. We definitely want to be near each other, but sometimes we can be too close...

Who Let the Dogs Out

We discovered the answer to this age-old question:

This past weekend one of us watched Daddy latch the doggie crate when he put George in. A few minutes later George was out running around and Mommy and Daddy realized neither of them had let him out! Later on Daddy watched as Jonathan took the top latch and I (Josiah) took the bottom latch to free the doggie. We are figuring out that we can accomplish more when we work together!

2-3-4

That was our weekend - 2 days, 3 parties, 4 tired Changs! We had a busy, busy weekend with friends and family! Here's a little re-cap: Saturday we had a party for Daddy's graduation, Saturday evening we had a birthday party for Grandma, and Sunday we went to cousin Ellyn's baptism and had a party afterward for her. By Sunday evening we were so tired, and even Daddy and Mommy looked very worn out. That didn't stop me (Jonathan) from getting them up out of bed to play with me at 10:30 last night. We both were up by 6 a.m., ready to go again! We don't know why Mommy still looks tired...

Ellyn's Baptism

We had our first experience in a Catholic church on Sunday. Our cousin Ellyn was baptized at her grandma and grandpa's church. It was very pretty with big colored windows. We started out sitting with Daddy and Mommy, but then went to Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Dale. They are so much more fun than Mommy and Daddy! Afterward we went to Ellyn and Lilly's Grandma and Grandpa's house to have dinner and cake. We didn't get to try that cake, but Mommy and Daddy said it was good. There were lots of fun toys to play with there, and we got to play on a bean bag chair - it was so neat! Here are some pictures of that:

A Surprise in Surprise

We had a surprise birthday party for Grandma after Daddy's party. All of the family who was here went to a restaurant and we surprised Grandma with dinner, gifts, and cards. She thought that the dinner was for Daddy only, but it was for her, too! Mommy forgot to get pictures with her camera - something about being too busy with us to get pictures. We don't know what she's talking about... Anyway, it was extra-special because Uncle Dale, Aunt Judy and cousin Britni are visiting, so they got to come, too. Uncle Dale and Grandma are now saying that they're twins - Irish twins! They figured out that Irish twins are 13 months apart or less, and they were born 1 year and 3 weeks apart. It's fun to have another set of twins in the family! :)

Happy Graduation (part 2)

This weekend we had an open house for Daddy's Graduation! It was lots of fun and we got a lot of attention! The best part was that we got to taste cake for the first time! It was so good that Jonathan just made this 'mmmmm' sound the entire time he ate it. Grandma said he sounded like he was purring like a kitten. We can't wait for our birthday when we get more cake!!!

Here we are with our Grandma Jan and Grandpa Andy. They are Grandma and Grandpa's neighbors across the street, and they have been a part of our lives since before we were born. We love them so much!
These are pictures of the cake that we just couldn't get enough of. Mommy told Daddy we should order the bigger size, and it's a good thing we did! Our friends and family ate almost the whole thing!! We would've had more if they would have let us. Oh yeah, Daddy, Mommy, Grandpa and Grandma are in the pictures, too.

Happy Haircut!

We got our first professional haircuts on Friday! It was quite an experience. Carmen was so nice and she even bought us a little cape to wear that is our size. We were very good and Mommy said if we were older she would take us out for ice cream. Too bad we can't have that yet...maybe we'll get cake and Daddy's party! Here are our before, during and after pictures.

Swimmin' Hole!

Ok, so it's not really a "hole," but it is so much fun!!! Grandma and Grandpa bought us our very own pool to play in while we're at their house. It's pretty warm here in AZ, so we've been in it twice already! Here are some pictures of the first time we went in. We were supposed to wait until later in the afternoon, but Grandpa took one of us out and put our feet in it. Then he and Grandma decided we should just strip down to our diapers and go full force in! They put us on the ground and let us climb in the side, so that they could tell Mommy and Daddy that they didn't put us in, that we did it ourselves. They're pretty tricky, huh?

Here is Jonathan as he first got in...he was the first! Here's Josiah and Grandma's legs...He decided he needed to test out the water first.
As you can see, the diapers came off (we don't have swim diapers yet), and Grandma started blowing bubbles for us!

More bubbles...
This is Jonathan with Grandma after we got out of the pool. That was so much fun! I'm tired!
Here's Josiah afterward. I was so tired, too. Swimming is a lot of work!

Baby Dedication

We were dedicated to the Lord (we understand that it means that Daddy and Mommy are going to teach us about Jesus and God for all our lives) last Saturday. It was kind of scary being in front of all those people at church. We were a little squirmy 'cuz all we really wanted to do was to crawl on the floor. Our friends Isaac and Nolan were also dedicated with us. Our Aunt Mary and Uncles Larry and Dave came to see. Afterward we went to Grandpa and Grandma's for dinner. Mommy had the nerve to put us to bed and not even share the food with us. How's that for love?! We have to admit that Mommy and Grandma fed us leftovers from the meal later on, though... :)

We're So Proud!!!

Last night we got to stay up late because it was a very special occasion! Daddy had his pinning/graduation ceremony for finishing Nursing School!! Daddy got to sit up on a big stage and everybody clapped for him. Not only did Daddy receive his pin, he also received the highest award - the Dora B. Dewey Outstanding Student Award! Mommy said that they chose him because he was the best student and just best overall. We are so proud of Daddy...even more than that we are excited that he will now have more time to play with us!!

Here are some pictures of the ceremony, with more explanation... This was us sitting in our stroller being good little boys while Daddy was getting his pin.
This is Daddy waiting his turn to go to the front and receive a funny paper that was all wrapped up and for the people to put the pin on him.
This is Daddy actually receiving the funny paper.
At the end of the service they did candle lighting with these funny looking lamps. Then they recited a strange "oath" together. We're not sure what it was about, but we think it had something to do with birds, because they called it a "Florence Nightingale Pledge." As you can see in the picture, Daddy is at the bottom, but also on the big screen!
This is Daddy walking out of the service with our friend Miss Judy. Don't they look all nurse-y?Way to go, Daddy!!

Sick Week

We had an entire sick week! It was no fun at all. We won't go into the gory details, but it wasn't pretty. Here are some photos to show you what it was like... First, here we are sitting in our high chairs when Mommy was trying to feed us. Usually we're really happy to eat and love mealtime. That week, not so much. Don't we look sad and pathetic??

Here is our "super play yard." We still haven't figured out what makes it so super). Daddy and Mommy covered the floor under it with blankets and towels. We think they like the rug under it more than they're letting on.

Here is our washer and dryer. Mommy took a picture of them because she thinks they worked just as hard as she and Daddy did, and she and Daddy spent almost as much time with them as they did with us!

Food Guarding

On our previous post about Frequently Asked Questions, the Newton Mommy asked about eating dog food. Well, it's not frequently asked, but we'll answer it anyway. Jonathan recently decided to try out the Doggie's Delight, aka Purina One dog food. I (Josiah) was innocently playing in the corner when he wandered away. Mommy was looking for something on-line and could see both of us from where she was sitting. She looked down, then looked up when she suddenly heard funny noises coming from our direction. Jonathan was sitting by the doggie food bowls (similar to in this picture), with George standing over him. Mommy thought that George got sick on Jonathan, but it was Jonathan who got sick on Jonathan!! Mommy got a piece of doggie food out of Jonathan's mouth and Jonathan made a face like he didn't like it at all. It was quite a morning here in the House of Chang. Mommy called something called "Poison Control" to make sure that nothing in the food was toxic to Jonathan (whatever toxic means). Apparently it was all ok because we got to go to play at Miss Linda's anyway. Mommy learned that 1) she never wants to call poison control again, 2) nothing is safe on the floor when we're roaming around, and 3) doggie food is digested much better by doggies than by babies.

Adie!

We got to attend a party for our friend Adie! She was baptized a couple of weeks ago and we were invited. She was so pretty and so little. Daddy and Mommy say that we were that small once, but we don't believe them. Here is a picture to prove we met her:

We like her a lot, but we're not sure of what we think about Mommy holding another baby. We're definitely not ready for a brother or sister any time soon!
